Should you care about our government?

Since elementary school, we have all learned that the United States is a democracy. We've also learned that a democracy means that all people are allowed to participate-to share ideas, concerns, problems, and worries with those we have elected. But does that mean anything to you? Why do you think some people choose to remain quiet when it comes to casting their vote? Does it have to do with not caring, not knowing what to believe, not feeling like their vote or voice matters, or something else? Why do you think some people choose to get involved by voting, protesting, registering neighbors to vote, writing editorials to the newspaper, and other means to making sure their voice is heard? Write a few of your ideas here on why some people practice what they've learned in history class and why others completely ignore it.

everyone should care about the goverment, but i think the problem is that no one trusts the goverment. I am seventeen and will not get to vote untill then next election, but right now i am very discourage by all the things i know about goverment and the economy. i think that too much time and money is being wasted on things that are not the very most important issues to handdle. I feel as if my future will be lost (and others' future)becuase the goverment is totally lost and does not work to fix the right problems. I do care about the goverment and voting but I wouldnt know who to trust.

I believe that some poeple let thier ideas be heard and some dont mainly if the problem has to do with them personaly. I dont think that a person without kids would worry about the issues involving kids as much as a parent. I believe thats just human nature.
Another factor in this is that some people are just born with the natures of wanting to have an opinion and wanting it to be heard. Some people may not vote because they believe that thier vote doesnt matter...and some may not vote just out of laziness. But for whatever reason some people just choose not to be heard...and some do. It just depends on thier character and nature.

in my opinon everyone should care about our government for the fact that we have to live with that they deside. if more people were intreaseted in the government well then maybe more people will be able to help out the government. Right now i believe that our government is way out of line and we need people that care about the people not just what they feel is right...

This is just my opinion..and everyone has one of those..but i think everyone should care about hte government; they take care of us. They make the decisions about the cities; whether or not people agree with them or not, the decisions are being made.

yes i think wii should care about our government and what its doing, because if we all know what they are planning and or doin than we can have an appinion.

yea, everyone should care abut the government, if u dont its either because u truthfully really dont care or your just to darn lazy!!i do care about the government an voting, so im very willing learn alot more about it to make the right choices, which can hopefully make a change!!!!!! in my opinion thats exactly what it needs CHANGE!

I, for the moment, don't really care. I'm not saying that I wont in the future when I'm living on my own without the help of my parents, but either way, I also feel like my opinion wouldn't really make a difference. I hate to think of it that way because i want to think that I could make changes but I'm only one person. And also, no matter how much someone could change our country...it's still going to be messed up.

In my opinion, everyone should care, at least a little, about their government. The problem these days is that the gov. breaks many of the laws which they set forth, which is setting a bad example for this countries citizens. Basically by doing so, the gov. has showed it's citizens that it's ok to not care about the government and that it is ok to make a mockery of the constitution. This has become extremely clear because it seems that no-one really cares about this years Presidential Election. OUR NATION IS SUFFERING FROM ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION!!

Anonymous said...

I think that most people dont care about the government, they say it a a free nation but why do they limit everything for people under 18 and most kids/teenagers could care less about our government and im only 17 and i really people should ask questions and express how they feel even though it will get you in trouble.

People should care about their government, and should be involved in the voting process asap. Some people in this country complain about the state and actions of the country, or they complain about the president. Yet some of these same people dont vote? why should someone have the right to complain about how things are if they dont care enough about it to try to fix it?

Chelsea said...

I think we should defiantly care about our government. If we didn't then probably would live in a communist government and we wouldn't have any say in what is going on, and we would have to live with it because nobody cared that our government really does have the say in what the county does.

I think everyone who has the right age to vote should care about what the government want to change I mean the economy is trillions in dollars in debt and what is being done about that.
The federal government does many things without our knowing of it they can change things that we might not accept and thats a reason why people argue and vote over what they believe in.
Many people who don't vote or stay quite are the ones that to me are making the economy bad because with the upcoming election they can really help make a change one vote can make a diffrence in your future president.
The government does help us out in many ways but I say they should be more focused on whats affecting us the important things and take care of the problems that need fixing.
Many people like to have their ideas heard but sometimes it just doesnt help but it does show that people care about whats happening.
You can make a diffrence let your voice be heard.

Anonymous said...

Everyone needs to care about our goverment because we live in this country and we are putting this country to risk if we don't care and choose wrong people to control the economy and we can become more in debt then we already are. I think that we should all be heard we can all make a differnece and have a better government and choose the right one to help us get out of this economy we have.
EVERYONE THAT IS 18 NEEDS TO VOTE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BE HEARD

Anonymous said...

I think that you should care about the government because you do live in the United States. If you vote you make a difference because your vote counts. Also because you get to decide who you want to run the State or the World.........It's up to you.

Anonymous said...

I think that people should care about our government because that way more people get to try to give there opinion on what they think the government should be doing or at least trying to be doing right and that way there is actually succes in the government to give to this country. That is why people that are eighteen should vote to try to make a difference even though some people may have dificulties on believing that they should vote!

Anonymous said...

Yes government does rule

Anonymous said...

In my point of view i do care about the government cause we are living under their circumstances. Sooner or later everyone is going to care about whats happening in our nation. Everyone who is old enough to vote should stand up and be heard. Say what they believe in not just go along with others.

Well Sometimes I Care About THe Government And Sometimes I Don't Care About The Government..!?! It all depends on the topis that is being brought up!?! I think that some people stay quiet because they are not interested in what is going on or it doesn't involve they or they don't benefit anything. The poeple that do get involved, well they want to be a part of the community, they want to know what is going to happen with there surroundings, like where they live. They Might also be invovled simlply just to know if there community, neighbors, ect. is save or are save...!>?!>

Anonymous said...

I think that it is important for people to get invovled. Then agian some people dont get invovled simply because thier voice might not be even recognized.

Anonymous said...

If you went up to most people on the street and asked whether they care about their government or not I'm sure that most of them would say yes. But whether they "care" about our government is irrelevant if they don't understand who is in it and how that plays into our daily lives. 1 in 5 Americans believes that the Sun revolves around the Earth, half of out population thinks that the world was created less than 12000 years ago based on the collective ages of figures in the bible. The notion that it crucial to vote on a candidate based on their perceived character (not that character is a bad thing) is pervasive through the American electorate. Because of the homogenization of the news media, because so many of us are willing to vote for a nice face even though we unknowingly disagree with their policies, and because of our image based politics, we have a phenomenally dysfunctional government full of people pandering to the hedge funds on the left, and to the oil industry on the right along with a whole slew of other industries while merely giving the issues that affect their constituencies lip service it seems. Just "caring" in the sense that I believe the blog post above is trying to encapsulate is simply not enough. This country needs to get aware of things, there are forces at work both nationally and internationally right now that are threatening our way of life that will become increasingly apparent over the coming decades if business as usual continues.

Everyone should care about the goverment, my hope would be that alot of people did care because we have faught for our freedom and rights. Many have died for what we have now, it would be rather sad if they didn't care. However we do know not everone cares about whats going on in the world around them. And to be totally honest its a mystery to me why they don't care if about things like goverment because whether they realize it or not it does effect them some in more ways then others. I think some people don't show the care and vote because they may not really know how it effects them or maybe they just think they wont make a difference.
When i was younger i tryed to give my mom a penny saying that it was ok because it wasn't that much money. In turn my mom gave the penny back to me and said "Every penny counts, because if you want something thats a dollar and your just one penny short you cannt by it!"
Then my mom taught me maybe with out knowing it the importance of voting and that every vote matters. And it is that very belief that most people vote.
So to all you out there who may not agree and think your vote really doesnt matter remember YOU could be that one penny that makes a dollar! So vote!

I think that people are afraid that they are just one person out of the 6 million or so people out there. I believe they think that the results are gonna happen regardless of their vote because it is just one vote out of 6 million. At the same time I disagree with what their logic. If life was that way, nobody would ever play the lottery, but people take their one in 6 million chance all the time in order to win all that money. So why not take the chance that your one vote will be the one that gets your candidate into the oval office. I think people who recognize the need to vote are the ones who are likely to be most passionate about who is in the white house. By voting, it gives you the opportunity to say that you did what you could to make the changes you wanted in America. Those who dont vote have no right to complain about the outcome of the election. I believe it is in peoples best interest to vote.

Anonymous said...

I think that in the people who like to voice their opinion about stuff in politics and go to protests and everything are just the real people who believe there vote actually does matter and like to think they had a part in putting that person into office. In the other people who like to be secretive, maybe they just dont want other people to know? and if thats not the case maybe they don't feel that their vote really does matter because of how many are casted in the entire U.S. but whatever their reasoning is everyone has a right to do what they want and can live in privacy if they want.

People should care about what the government does. If people have a chance to speak their mind they should. If nobody speaks their mind then nothing would change in this country. People should believe in the government because for the most part their just trying to help us.

Anonymous said...

I think that everyone should care about thet government no matter if you think that the government don't care about you when your voting or when you try to share some ideas.
Some people express how they care about the government by protesting, so they can be hear by the goverment, other people don't care, they remain quiet because they think that their vote is not going to change anything.

Anonymous said...

I think a lot of people don't care about the government because they feel kind of powerless. They think "my one vote isn't going to make any difference. Why should I even bother?" I wonder what would happen if those people did vote. I bet a lot of things would be different. I think it's important to vote for what you think is right. At least that way you'll have an excuse to complain if things don't work out your way. At least you tried, anyway. It's all about motivation and a lot of people just feel motivated to be loud and others to be silent.

But really they should for the people that do vote or take part in government activities are making the diffrence, showing that the people to win! All they have to do is give a little effort.

I think that people should be involved in the government because everyones oppinion maters and the only way we can voice our oppinions is through voting. It doesn't matter if we care or not, our voices should be heard although they will probably be lost in the socialist jabber that's being tossed around now days. Some people practice because they either want to seize power while they have the chance or they want to alert all of us oblivious citizens of the failing state of our Democratic-socialist-republic and try to help fix the damage we as un-caring members of society have caused.

i think everyone should care about the government because they are the people who make the decisions in the U.S. I think that some things should change and im sure so do many other people. heck yea we should care about our government the problem is trusting it.our government is a joke and thats no lie. the only thing it cares about is money money money they dnt care about the people or our country's problems but we still have to care about it cuz even tho its doin a horrible job we would be worst with out it...

People should most definatley care about gov. Mainly becuase if you dont care no one is there to speak for you. People just dont go up to everyone and see what you want you have to voice your opinion. Thats why people protest, they see a problem and they try to fix it and hopefully other people will care enough so that something can get done.

Honestly, i believe that most people that don't vote decide not to either because they think that their vote won't matter, or they just don't feel so inclined. Most people today think that the United States Government is all going to trash and we are failure, etc, etc. but honestly if they wanted to do something they could let their voice be heard. i wont be 18 in time to cast my vote this election year, but i will most definitely be registered, even though my one liberal vote probably wont stand much next to the billions that disagree with me. but at least then i have room to complain when something happens that everyone doesnt like. :)

I think that everybody should be care about the government, govenment rules a lot of things in our lives and we must know about it reading the paper and wathing the news in the TV to know about its choices and how those choices could change our lives. Besides I think that we must be care at the moment to choose who is goig to be government in the future.

Anonymous said...

I believe that the goverment does play a specific role, but not eveyone knows what that role completely entails. While a large number of people participated in previous elections and editorials trying to influence other people to vote. there was always a small of amount of people who didnt vote and i'm sure each of the reasons listed played some part of it, but maybe its that that small percentage dont like being told or influenced on what to believe and reasons behind voting for which canidate. they feel that they cant completely trust what is being said as to what will be done. So maybe its suspician that keeps people quiet and nuetral, or the fear that the person who is elected will be a bad choice.

The constitution says our government is to be a REPUBLIC.
I think that some people don't get involved and stand up for their rights because they are too scared, lazy, don't realize that they have any, don't care, don't think that they can change anything, or don't want to have any responsibility.
I think that some people do get involved because they like politics, want to make a difference, and don't like how our leaders are running things.
And people go on strikes and write editorials and thinks trying to change thinks because they don't like how the government is doing things that affect and hurt/kill/damage loved ones and frineds.
Others are sick of how our government throws our money around and wastes it, and then says that the only way to fix the new problems and debt that they've created is to raise taxes, again.
And some are sick of how the leaders of our government make us suffer for their greed and lust and laziness.
The government is supposed to work for US, its not supposed to force us to do what it wants.
The government doesn't let the public schools teach us our rights or how the government is supposed to be run because they are afraid that with our new knowledge we will stand up and force them to do what they are supposed to, and not what raises the number in their bank account.
ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE-I mean look at Jesus, Shakespear, George Washington(and the other founding fathers).
Osama Bin Laden, Hitler, Napoleon, etc. made terrible differences but a difference none the less. The worse difference someone makes, the bigger they seem to go down in history-but there are good differences made everyday by just one person-and then it becomes 2 adn 3 and 4...

In my opinion people should really care enough to vote and have what they have to say be heard. though many people choose not to vote. I personally think they are just lazy or don't care. Another reason is that maybe they think other people won't care and their afraid of what people think.

I think that we should care about our government because there are many topics that will affect everyones life. but on the other hand people find things out by listening to what can happan or give you like a warning to how to prepare for that situation. but its mostly about the wars in iraq or president updates or the gas changes that affect everyone well at least the ones that pay for their own gas.

the government means alot to me because who we elect is who is going to represent us in the future. some people probably remain quiet about their vote because the dont want people to hate them because of who they voted for. people should care about voting because then the person who they dont want to win might win the election. because it nice to learn what people went through many years ago.

i care because in the long run i all these choices will effect me
i think there should be change
not like what mccain says with rural change because rural change will not work they need to have change for the past mccain is just trying to make the future into the past again
the only way to advance our country and fix the problems we have is to change for the future

This is a phenomenon restricted not only to the United States. Many people, even youth, in many countries prefer to remain aloof from government and politics. The reasons are varied: many people feel that their vote or their voice does not really matter, that one person can not really make much of an impact. Also, many people feel that there are other important things besides national or state politics in their life.

In my opinion, this is an absurd illusion. Government affects your life in ways you cannot even count-from the price of petrol to the taxes you pay. So remaining aloof from this is in your disadvantage. Many people realize this, that they need to speak up for their rights if they want to have the government that will treat them well. And that is why they remain politically active through writings, speeches and campaigns.

I feel for the people who choose not to vote. Most of the time you feel like your voice doesn't really matter and your vote doesn't mean anything. Obviously you can make your voice heard by doing things publicly and letting people know how you feel, but in an election your vote wont change anything. The whole mass of people who don't vote does change things but whether or not you vote will not change a single thing.

the fact that our government is democracy means a lot to me, otherwise the people of American would not have a voice is subjects that directly effect us. i think that some people feel that their voice doesn't matter in the whole scheme of governmental affairs but if everyone thought that way then we would no longer be a democracy. this is why people get so involved in the continuing of the voices of America being heard. the right to vote is not given to so many people in our world and i am very thankful that we as Americans have that right.

Voting is a privalage. People who don't want to vote that's ok, but this is a time where you can help your country pick who you want to lead it, why pass that up? If I could vote I would. I would want to help my country pick the man or woman that will protect us from harm. There are so many people who are taking the oppertunity to vote for granted. I care for the goverment, so many people complain about our goverment, but don't even know a thing about it. All I know about our goverment is that with out it America could fall apart. People also bash on race for our presidents, it shouldn't matter, people should vote for the canidate with the best veiews, and a good understanding of how the people feel.

Everyone should be concerned about what is happening in their government.

I think that our current government sucks. I say this, because I care about the government. The government is corrupted, and nothing like it was when it was first established by our founding fathers many years ago. It went from people wanting to do something for this country, to a bunch of rich oil tycoons picking what laws that are going to make it harder for us, or raise taxes because they aren’t hitting a couple billion from their Halliburton factories. The point is that the presidents and many, if not all other politicians, have lost all care for the rest of us in America. They don’t see what raising taxes, or throwing billions of dollars into a war that we don’t even need to be in. America is very American anymore, its all about who has the most money, and can propose the best business deal to make them richer. I care about America, and I wish to see it changed.

I think that everyone should care about the government. It is a chance for your voice to be heard and a chance for other people to view your outlook on things. We should care about things going on in our government and we should try to let our voices be heard because this is our country. We live in the United States and we need to make the best decisions. Some people do not think that what they say will matter, no one will listen, and they will not make a difference. How do they know? Unless you try, you don’t know. Although I personally do not really care for our government, I do have an interest in it, and everyone should have at least an interest. I want my voice to be heard and things to possibly be changed. By letting my voice be heard others might agree with what I am saying and then others may believe it too and make their voices heard. The only way you can get any change is by being involved. So everyone should care, or at least take some kind of interest. If not, then don’t complain when the government is not how you would like it to be.

Should you care, would it make a difference, how much longer before another depression? These are questions commonly asked by one self and others. My answer to caring about the government is yes of course, I owe America my life. Voting can only do so much, and the government doesn’t tell the citizens everything. I believe the government and economy is too messed up to do anything right away. Think of that thing that’ll have instant and dramatic affects, and then put them into action.

I believe that anyone that’s old enough to understand what type of government we have should care about it. It’s important because people at our age will get older and possibly work for the government; maybe even have some kind of control in it. Some people decide to remain quiet about their votes because they might be scared of what others might think of it. One vote can easily change something major either bad or good so that person might not want them to know.

I think that it is very important for people to vote and care about their countries government.

Everyone that has citzenship in the United States should care about the government and the United States Military, because if it wasn't for the Military we probly wouldn't be a free Nation like we are today. Being a Marine I beleive that it's my duty to protect my Country's freedom.

I think if the the voting is in the u.s.a they can vote if they want to and thats their own choice to vote If they really what to.I think that the voting should be up to the people who whant The president

I think everyone should care about our government because if we didn't, we might not have as much liberty or we might have laws that go against what some of us believe. I also think it is very important because our government and the people who live in the U.S. who make up this country. The government is who takes care of the citizens of America which is something that everyone should care about. In my oppion, if people really don't care about the government you are really dumb because everyone should care about it and it might be important in the future.

In my opinion, I don’t really like our government, other than the fact that everyone can voice their opinions and such. But just because we can voice our opinion doesn’t mean they are necessarily listened to does it? For instance, the election for the president, there are a lot of people in our country that don’t vote. Whether it be they are indecisive about who to choose, don’t know what is going on, don’t CARE what’s going on or maybe to lazy to get to the booth. You always see advertisements everywhere you go saying “VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!”, but does anyone really pay any attention to them? In my opinion, I don’t really see why I should care about “our” government. I don’t see our branches of democracy putting out a survey to the public of what the country thinks about certain decisions, so really the citizens of this country’s voice is never heard. Sure you get protesters in our nation’s capital every now and then, but they are just removed and told not to protest here again. It’s almost like the government doesn’t want to hear the nation’s opinions. So in a sense, it’s not really OUR government. It’s the people that are in the judicial, legislative, and executive branches that the government belongs to. Of course I’m not of age to vote yet, but when it comes time for me to vote, I don’t think I will. It’s my personal decision, and in my eyes no matter who wins the election we get screwed over in some way. Not everyone in our country will be happy with who is in charge or what decisions are approved. Our country will never be satisfied. And if our country can’t be content, I don’t think I will be. So I’m saving my money and taking off to some foreign country. Sayonara!

(Another reason why I will refuse to vote is what difference will one vote make, the election is rigged in my eyes anyways.)

Ive grown up in the system , been all over oregon. No one ever cared about me so why should i care about them. lifes hard so you have to do things yourself in order to get anything you need. Ive been through alot and no one gonna help me get anything unless i get it done myself. I wouldnt trust anybody to do anything for me cause then things would never get done.

I honestly think the main reasons some people wouldn’t vote is lack of information and feelings of insignificance. I'd like to think one vote could matter but in the grand scheme with so many votes, it’s not going to tip the scales either way, but with that in mind if everyone thought that way the system would fall apart and THEN my vote would matter. It’ flipped upside down. Also it’s hard to find unbiased information and direct answers to questions and concerns. I end up having to spend hours trying to decipher through all the campaign jargon and opinions of others. I just want enough information to form my own opinion. Is that too much to ask?

Anonymous said...

Should you care about our government?! That is like asking should you care about your way of life and the way things are run around you. Some people may not care about the government because they are too busy wondering what is the new trend, and are so heavily concerned with what the media says is important that they, specially teenagers, are way too caught up in their own little world.

The government means a lot to me, because without it we would be disorganized. I think people choose to be quiet about the government because they think there word won’t matter or they don’t stand up and say something. I think people who don’t care are scared of what other people and the government are going to think. There quiet so know one will here them. Other people like talking and voting, posting comments and all that other stuff because they want there voice to be heard, and they actually care about the government. You should care about the government. The government is with you your whole life. For 4 years the president is with you and if you don’t care and vote. Then don’t complain about the next time you think they are doing something right. Because you said you didn’t care about the government.

I think that we need to care about our government because we are a democracy. That means that we all have a say in everything. If you do not vote and do not like the way something is voted on or the laws that are made, then you shouldn’t be complaining because you did nothing to participate in the voting. I also think that some people don’t vote because they don’t like politics or watching what is going on in the news. I don’t think that its lack of caring, it’s probably because we are all to busy to worry about such complex things. I don’t like to watch or hear about politics, but I do care about our government.

I think that the issues involving our nation are important but why should certain people care about the government if the government seems not to care about them? And I think that seems to be the problem. Many people don’t feel as if they are being taken care of. I believe that of course we should care about the government, we just don’t for that fact that maybe many people feel they shouldn’t care about something that doesn’t help them.

Anonymous said...

I think that everyone should care about our government because our country is the way it is because of it; and if someone doesn’t like it then stand up and fight for your opinion to be heard. A lot of people think that what they have to say doesn’t matter but if you think like that maybe it doesn’t. I mean what if the people in the past had thought like that, they would have never been heard right? Well they didn’t and neither should we and I think that if you really care about our government and the decisions they make then you will make a scene and be heard.

I do care about the government but I don’t care about some things the government does. Some reasons I hate the government are because every year my parents keep loosing money and going in debt and it is ticking me off. I’m also mad at the gas prices being too high.

I think that everyone should care about what happens in the government. Anything that happens in the government affects some person in some way and sometimes the thing that affects someone affects you. One reason to become involved in government is because if anything happens in government that you don’t like you can take steps towards trying to change it. If you were completely ignorant to everything that happened in the government you should never complain about anything that they do because you made the choice to not be involved.

I think that everyone should care about government. But because freedom is part of our country and you are not allowed to tell people what to think, my type of government will not be enforced. Jk. But that is not really what I want to talk about this conversation is now going to shift a little bit. I have met people that don’t really care about the government and what’s going on. But what irritates me most about these kind of people is they sill seem to complain about EVERYTHING! If you don’t want to vote and don’t care about what is going on, don’t complain. Seriously! It’s really annoying. If you are not going to water the plants, don’t get mad cause they are dying!

everyone should care about the goverment, but i think the problem is that no one trusts the goverment.

Francisco said...

I think we should care about our government, the problem is that some people just don't trust it. I believe that if some people don't want to tell you who they are voting for is probably because they think if they tell who they are voting for the other person is going to say something negative.

Anonymous said...

I think the reason people keep quite and don’t cast their votes is because they don’t think their vote counts. I also think that it’s not so much as people not caring but that they don’t trust the politicians because they may say some things just to get votes and to get them into office but once they are there they wont act on what they say.
The reason I think some people are involved is because they want change. I think they want to be sure that the proper candidate is in office to do the proper things according to their view.

I think we should all care about our government. It plays a big role in how we live and it’s involved in our everyday lives. The government pertains to laws that we must abide by and it’s a way to let our voices be herd when we vote. If no one cared then our country wouldn’t be what it is today. We might not have some of the freedoms we have today. This is why everyone should be concerned with our government.

Anonymous said...

I think that everyone should care about the government. They should care because what happens with the government involves every person. Even kids like us. I think that it is important to also get involved in the government now and be informed. I think this because when we are older we will know what has been going on and be able to know who to vote for because of their knowledge.

Anonymous said...

I think that everyone should care about the government and be a part in society. A lot of people don’t care about the government because they don’t think their vote matters. If everyone thought that way where would we be today? It’s important to vote for what you think if right, because it affects everyone.

I think that EVERYONE should care about our government, and needs to be involved in the voting process. There are some people that do not even vote, but yet they still complain about the state and the country's actions, and sometimes the president. But if they dont vote they should not complain about anything. Also EVERYONE needs to care what the government does and what is goin on, because they live in this country. I think we all need to be heard and everyone can make a difference.

Everyone should care about the environment. If you live here you need to take responsibility for your actions. If we all took care of the Earth, we would live in a better place. We would learn to make our society a worth while place to spend our lives. It would be cleaner and we would decrease the chances of global warming dew to air pollution.

I think that everyone should care about the government. If people want change to happen then the need to have an interest in the government. The reason why people don’t cast a vote is not because they don’t care it’s because they don’t think there vote will do anything, but they don’t know what would happen if they did vote. They could change the outcome and not even know it. So I guess what I am saying is that people should not be scared to vote and if they do not vote then they should not complain about the outcome because they did nothing to help it in the way they wanted.

I think that everyone should care about our government. We should all care about the government because we do live here. If everyone cared more about the government we would not have any problem, and there are definitely problems. I strongly agree that if everyone cares about the government then most problems will stop and everyone will be better off in the long run.

I believe that it is very important that everyone is aware of what is going on in our country. Everyone should care because we all are apart of this country. Some people choose to remain quiet because they do not think their vote matters. It does matter; it is a chance for your voice to be heard. Other people get involved in everything to make sure their voice is heard everywhere. They do this because they really care about our country. Democracy means that people are allowed to participate-to share ideas and problems. Why shouldn’t we take advantage of what we are given?

Anonymous said...

The reason I believe some people choose to remain quiet about casting their vote is because they don’t feel they’re voice matters all that much. Some people however, choose to get involved by voting, protesting, and so on. I think they choose to do this because they care about what the government does and the effects they have on our nation. I think that they believe that if they can get their voice heard then maybe they can effect the votes of other people.

I think that it is important for people to get involved. I think that everyone should care about the government because we live here in the United States and we have the right to vote, and to make a difference. Voting is a privilege. People who don't want to vote that's ok, but this is a time where you can help your country pick who you want to lead it, why pass that up? If I could vote I would.

I believe our government is a fundamental system set up to improve our country. It is our responsibility to care about this system. We, as citizens, should support and do what we can to make our government better. One way of doing this is by voting. We should educate ourselves about the candidates, no matter what our age might be. This way, when the time comes to be able to vote, we will be prepared and able to choose the best candidate possible.

Yes, i think we should all care about our government. In return i think our government should care about us by no taxes. Ideas that will help us with financial needs. If they help out with our needs we will be behind them in all there bad and good situations. I think if we are behind our government it will run better and produce better results for the U.S. So lets support our government and they will return the favor.

Everyone should care, but does everyone? No. America’s problem isn’t that people don’t care about the government. They are poorly informed. Part of the reasoning behind people keeping quite and not submitting or not cast their votes is because they don’t think their vote counts enough to make a difference. I also think that it’s not so much as people not caring but that they don’t trust the politicians. With the tabloids playing such a strong role in a provider from information about the candidates, it can become difficult to know the facts from fiction. How do we know if they will really follow through with what they say. Everyone should care about the government, but there is a difference from caring and understanding. America says they want change, but what kind of change? I think they want to be sure that the proper candidate is in office to do the proper things according to their view, and follow through with there so called promises.

Anonymous said...

I believe that it all depends on the issue. If something is important to you, then you should care about how the government handles the situation. If people aren’t voting, I think that it is because they don’t think that they can make a difference with a single vote. The United States is a democracy, which means that every person has the right to be heard. However, if you are undecided on an issue, or don’t really care, then it shouldn’t matter if you care about our government or not.

Anonymous said...

I think that some people vote because they want their voice to be heard. Other people don’t vote because they just don’t care about the government. Another reason that people might not vote is because they are confused on what to vote for. I personally think that people that don’t vote, because they don’t care, should vote. In the future it might affect them for not voting.

Anonymous said...

Everyone should care about the government since after all we are all living under their authority. We should all take in consideration and input our beliefs and cast our votes when it comes to the elections. Some people do not seem to have the courage to put in their votes, because either they think their vote won’t be as effective or because they do not care at all. Some citizens do not realize that their vote does count and does effect the election but it sure does. In fact, a lot of citizens do take the government in for consideration and speak up to what they think it is not right. They are the citizens who care about our government since they are all action and they don’t take no for an answer if they do not approve to a decision the government makes.

Yes I think it is very important that people care about the government. Voting is basically your voice being heard. A lot of people in this country don’t care about the government. Since it’s for you country you should care. The government makes decision that you might not like but that shouldn’t keep you from voting or giving your opinion.

Anonymous said...

Well in my opinion I believe that we should care about the government, it’s just that we don’t. I don’t think that the people have enough trust in the government, that’s why we don’t really care about the government. I think that if was eighteen I wouldn’t be all excited about who to vote for mainly because all the candidates do is promise new changes, but they never go through with them. We believe in what the candidates say but they never really do what they say they will. That’s why I feel that if I was old enough to vote I wouldn’t, because all they do is promise, and no change.

I think everyone should care about the government because they are the people who make the decisions in the U.S. I think the government we have now doesn’t even know what there doing. I think we can all make a difference and have a better government. Like said earlier I think we should all care.

I disagree with Alisha. There is a lot we can do to help our government, even if it is still messed up. One person can make all the difference, so I believe that everyone who can voice their opinion should. If you can vote, get out there and help our country. You could be the one who makes a change.

I for one agree with Kendal Rogers&It;3 for a few good reasons. One I totally think that voting is a privilege and people should take advantage of it. I mean you can help elect the next president of America! If I could vote I would. Like Kendal said so many people complain about our government now. Stop complaining and vote for who you think should become our next president. Get involved.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Karina on this issue. I think that everyone should care about our government. It gives people the opportunity for their voice to be heard and a chance for them to view their outlook on things. I think everyone should be concern about everything going on in our government. I think that some people do not think that what they say will matter or their vote won’t count or make a difference, but it does. How would they know if you do not try? I agree with Karina I think that the only way you can get change is if everyone is involved. So everyone should care and be more involved with our government. Also if people do not take any interest they should not complain about how the government is.

Anonymous said...

In response to Noelle I would have to agree. Why shouldn’t someone care about their government? Basically everything the government does effects you in one way or another. If you don’t care and you don’t vote, then you’re basically giving up your voice and letting someone else say what’s best for you. Granted you may vote and still have something happen that you don’t like, but does that mean you shouldn’t try?

Anonymous said...

In my response to KRogers, I agree with her since yes, people should care about the Government and but the problems is that people lack the right information about politics and anything that falls under the Government. The majority of people do not trust politics because they have no idea what is going on with it. Many are bad informed, that leads to miss understandings about the Government. A lot of citizens think that their vote does not count, that means that they are still bad informed about the whole process in voting. How KRogers said, that there is a difference about caring and knowing the Government. I think that people might take other information and mislead to other things about the Government. Before people stop caring about it, they should most of all learn and however understand the Government.

Anonymous said...

Yes I think that we should all care about the government because we should all have a say in what is going on. I don’t think that the people don’t care but what I think is that they don’t trust the government. I think that the people that vote and do everything involving the government voting and everything are the only ones that have a say in what goes on in the government an d the things they don’t like.

Anonymous said...

In response to Noelle I would have to agree. People need to voice their opinion more often. We need to tell the government what we like or dislike about their decisions. Other wise it is just going to get worse over time.
