Democracy is a Verb

Here are three great reasons why you should participate on this blog:
  1. This blog is all about democracy and democracy is all about hearing all points of view. Therefore, this blog needs to hear your voice.
  2. You have ideas, opinions, frustrations, concerns, and solutions. Here is your chance to publicize those thoughts for all to read.
  3. Telling other people what you think is empowering. Hearing what other people have to say is informing. Writing and reading on this blog will help make you well-informed, which makes your ideas and thoughts stronger.
Once school resumes we will begin posting questions, providing links to videos, and asking for your opinion so check back at the beginning of September to see how you can exercise your voice.

Obama will be the best choice for president. This nation needs to try a new path. We have so many issues and problems that have esclated during the Bush Administration. It is time for change! Maybe a young, fresh president will lead us out of this mess with the war, gas, our economy being in shambles, and the list goes on and on...vote Obama!

I don't care who wins the election, because either way it's going to be a change. We are either going to have the first woman vice president,or the first African American president. Bush has totally screwed up our country and it is time for change

I honestly don't really care who wins becasue I think both of the candidates are good, and they will both do amazing things for our Country. But I also think that everyone over the age of 18 should vote because America needs a change. Bush needs to go.

Whoo hoo! Vote McCain/Palin!
No, seriously, Obama doesn't have enough experience and is far too liberal for my liking. McCain is much closer to the American political center.

I heard many people say that Bush needs to go and that Bush is horrible, but I want to know WHY. What exactly is horrible that Obama can fix. Also, if the congress is weighed by democrats and the republican president can't make any decisions all on his own, isn't congress kindof responsible for the horrible-ness, too? Please explain!

NOBAMA vote MCAIN

I have heard that obama would reverse the marajuana law, making it legal to smoke weed. If that's the case, what kind of guy is this "Obama"... one who loikes to be high? my point exactly.

Barack Obama would do a fantastic job as our next president. Think about what we have gone through these past eight years. Mccain, although more liberal than Bush, would continue on the basic policies that Bush and Cheney created. Obama would pull out of Iraq- a war we can't win, but can save. We can help the innocent Iraqis by sending aid once we stop blowing things up there! He's going to stop the US depending on Foreign Oil, by focusing on green energy like solar, wind, and wave technology. The most important thing, in my opinion, that he is going to do, is make education for college better and more affordable for the average person. He is going to make Health Care available everyone, no matter what they can pay or what disease or sickness they might have. It is a moral thing- proving care for the sick. Barack Obama can be our next president. Volunteer! It's really fun! Elect Obama!

How could anyone say that Obama should be in the White House? He is far too young and morally, I think that he nothing but bad news for the US. First of all, he is pro-choice. I believe that God has given anyone who has ever been pregnant a gift……and it wasn’t on accident. That baby might just be the best thing for the parents, or the ones adopting. Nothing is an accident with God. He plans everything out and knows what is best. Yes, we choose to have sexual relations, but whether a new life is formed or not is God’s department. And second of all, Universal Health Care? Ok? We already have fat lazy people who don’t have jobs because they don’t have to; they are taking advantage of welfare. I am not against welfare, but all means. But you can not tell me that everyone on welfare honestly needs it. So what makes you think that universal health care will be any different? It won’t! More people will see the advantages and put the U.S. even more in debt and we will be stuck with more lazy people than we already have!

There are a lot of things preventing me from voting for Obama but the main thing is that his decisions on abortions are all wrong. First, of all he voted no for prohibiting minors to go across state lines to get an abortion. What is up with that?? Why would you allow a minor to go across state lines just to kill her baby??? It’s stupid!!!
Then he also voted no to notifying the parents of a minor who goes out-of-state lines to getting an abortion. Now that I strongly disagree with…parents have the right to know if their kid is pregnant, especially if they’re a minor under the age of 16. If the kids didn’t want the baby then next time they’ll think twice about having sex.
A fetus or an embryo should be considered a human being. Just because it hasn’t breathed its first breath doesn’t mean that it’s not real. It’s just as human as we are now. It feels pain, it eats, it sleeps…what else they have to do in order to be considered a human. They also deserve a chance to live a normal life. If the mother doesn’t want it then there’s always adoption. At least then they’re not being killed and they go to a loving family who may not be able to conceive.
So that’s why I say no to Obama. I very much disagree to his rulings and I hope that each and every one of you follows me in saying No to Obama!!!

Obama or Mccain? Mccain would be like having bush under power for another four years. He has the same ideals and mediocre leading skills as Bush. We all have seen what has happened with Bush under power. Four dollars a gallon for gas, a major debt with the world, just to mention a few. If the American people were to elect Mccain, I would seriously put my head down in shame. Obama on the other hand has plans to take our country foward into the future. I believe that people have the choice of doing whatever with their self. Just as your parents have the choice of taking care of you or just letting you fall into decadence, a fetus is a fetus not a baby. How do you know that a fetus has feelings? Until i see a scientific report on fetu's feelings i will not take that as a valid argument.

I think Obama is a better speaker than McCain because Obama seems more informed. Running mate Sarah Palin cannot answer any question that the reporter asks her she tends to gets off track the same can be said for McCain. Second of all even though Obama lacks experience he well spoken and he also knows what he is talking about. Third, if McCain died while in office and Palin took over his spot the U.S.A. is going to be in trouble. No matter what, this election will be historic because of the possibility of having the first black president or first woman vice president appointed to office.

I totally agree with every word that Sam is saying. I don’t like Obama’s decisions on abortion. I mean, I love kids. Even though abortion does happen, I still can’t imagine that anyone would be able to take away the life of someone that can’t defend themselves.
When kids get the chance to vote they usually vote for the candidate that their parent’s are voting for. Or they could also not vote for a person because of a person’s age, race, or even, gender. When I get the chance to vote I’m going to vote for the person who I think has the best intentions for the United States.

How can you be an American and vote for Obama? He wants to withdraw the troops out of Iraq early. If he does that millions of people will be killed. I know be cause it is the exact same thing that happened in Vietnam. I don't care if he's going to withdraw them gradually, terrorists aren't stupid they'll know that we're withdrawing. Think about it for a minute,if we withdraw our troops out of Iraq gradually we'll have less and less troops there everyday. When terrorists see that more and more troops are leaving Iraq everyday they'll attack, which will cause more American deaths than need be. You'd have to be a pretty cold-hearted individual to just throw away all of those innocent lives. NOBAMA!!!

NOBAMA! Vote mccain. THis is what it boils down to. WE are in the middle of a war with terrorism. SO who do you want to lead the army. An experienced war hero with numerous medals. Or someone with no experience whatsoever. The decision seems pretty simple to me.

Sam, I agree with you. We should not vote for a president who supports abortion and the processes that go along with it. A minor who is carrying a baby should notify her parents as soon as she finds out so that she can get as much help as possible. To vote for someone who supports not telling the parents and allowing abortion is completely absurd. Abortion should not be permitted except in dire situations. It’s about time that people start taking responsibility for their actions, whether they are good or bad. We should vote for someone who values the lives of human beings. Vote McCain!!

KP I think that u are very much right. There is so much chaos going on right now and we do need a president that will lead us out and help us through all these problems. One thing is for sure I now that some people do not like change and probably don’t like Obama’s race but I say what should it matter, and if he has a good head on his shoulders then Obama should win the election…. so vote Obama !

KP i toatly disagree with your opinoins on who should be president. I believe that McCain will be the best choice for president. Obama is not a very good choice,he is too liberal for America and he will not make the right decisions to solve the enery crisis.
